荒川、女王の舞再び ０４年の曲に変更 2006年01月26日10時47分
トリノ五輪開幕を約２週間後に控え、女子フィギュア陣が、それぞれに最終調整に励んでいる。荒川静香（プリンスホテル）は自由の曲を、０４年世界選手権を制した時の歌劇「トゥーランドット」に変更。村主章枝（ａｖｅｘ）は日本で、安藤美姫（愛知・中京大中京高）は米国で滑り込んでいる。米国・コネティカット州シムスベリーで調整する荒川。２３日の練習は、午前と午後の計約４時間。昨年１２月から師事するモロゾフコーチが見守るなか、黒のウエアで氷上で舞った。コーチからの身ぶり手ぶりのアドバイスに小さくうなずき、再び滑り始める。そんな光景が続いた。
今季の自由はショパンの「幻想即興曲」だったが、昨年末の全日本選手権後、「もう少し後半盛り上がれる方がいい」と話していた。また、「みせるプログラムにしたい」という荒川は、上体を大きく反り返らせて滑る、得意の「イナバウアー」をできるだけ長く盛り込みたい、という意向もあった。
五輪直前での曲の変更はリスクもある。だが、「トゥーランドット」は過去２シーズン使った経験がある。世界選手権優勝時のプログラムでは、終盤、リンクをイナバウアーで大きく横切り、観客をどよめかせた。「いまはところどころ不慣れなところがあるので、体に覚えさせるという段階」とはいうものの、表情に焦りはなかった。
世界選手権優勝時も振り付けを担当していたモロゾフコーチは「もっと感情を出せるように練習している。そんなスケートができればメダルのチャンスはある」と話す。
「自分が競技するより緊張した」。副将を務めた結団式後に、そう話していた村主。女子フィギュア陣で唯一、結団式に出席し、「日本代表としてとても重要なものを担っている」と、代表の重みを実感していた。新横浜で練習を続け、「平常心を失うことなく競技に集中したい」。
安藤は米国・オハイオ州クリーブランドにいる。昨年末に自由の曲を「蝶々夫人」に変更し、新しいプログラムを一から作り上げた。「好きな曲だし、よりよいものができると願っている」。どこまで滑り込めるかが鍵を握る。
３人は２月上旬にイタリア入り。フランス国境近くの事前合宿地、クールマイヨールで最後の仕上げをしてトリノに乗り込む予定。

〈豆知識：イナバウアー〉 フィギュアスケートは、ジャンプやスピンなどによって評価する要素点と、スケート技術や技のつなぎ、身のこなし、振り付け、表現の５項目で評価する構成点の合計で順位をつける。
要素点はジャンプ、スピン、ステップ（女子はスパイラルを含む）が対象。荒川が重視する「イナバウアー」は大きく上体をそらしながら滑る技。荒川の技術は高く、観客から称賛される一方、構成点の「技のつなぎ」で評価されることはあっても、直接得点にはつながらない。
ソルトレーク五輪での採点疑惑の後、現在の採点方法になり、得点を稼ぐため、みな似たようなスピンやステップをするようになった。「ポイントにつながらなくても、人が喜ぶことをやりたい」という荒川は、自らの得意技にこだわりをみせている。

Figure Skating: Shizuka Arakawa Queen of the Ice
The ladies’ free skating programme ended the figure skating event on Thursday evening.
The Olympic gold went to Japanese Shizuka Arakawa, who completed a clean, elegant and expressive programme to the notes of Turandot; technically it could be pointed out that she had reduced her triple-triple jumps to doubles, but she carried out her programme cleanly, with some good spins, beautiful step sequence and a refined interpretation brought her total to 191.34 points.
American Sasha Cohen came second place who, despite her programme being spoilt by a good two falls in what should have been triple triple Lutzes, she got 183.36 points, enough to guarantee her performance to the notes of Romeo and Juliet second place on the podium.
Third was sorrowful Russian Irina Slutskaya, who finished with 181.44 points – too little to give her that sought for Olympic gold. Skating to Rumba and Flamenco rhythms, Irina had a fall, missed two combinations, her triples became doubles and made some not very convincing spins; unfortunately this was not her evening and it won her only third place.
Carolina Kostner for Italy was in ninth place with 153.50 points; her performance to the music of Vivaldi’s Winter did not contain any bad mistakes, but perhaps the speed, grace and lightness for which she is known were missing.
Carolina finished a long way off from the medals that many had hoped she would win, but she will certainly make this experience a treasure to keep for the future.
Also Silvia Fontana gained a place with her programme to the music of Turandot, finishing 22nd with 120.37 points. A performance that was not perfect but executed with feeling and emotion, and it was a nice redemption after her disappointment in the short programme.
Now that the event has finished, on Friday there is the gala that will see the winners of the first places and the Italian champions on the rink again.
